Small traditional fishing village crossed by the picturesque river Messonghi, still holds evidence of the old pastime of residents who, in conjunction with the tourism development offers many amenities to waterfront taverns, clean beaches and well-organized services of tourist facilities and rooms for rent region. The mythical river Ylos the archaic Aegean and the Messonghi River are three different names of the current river that gave its name to this area of our municipality. The water mills along the river are the cause to be created even by the Byzantine years, mixed urban cores. Fishing mainly but also animal husbandry and agriculture were the end of 1960 the main occupation of the then population.
The arrival of the first tourists but in the wider region and the subsequent creation of the first tourist establishments in the late 70s, makes this traditional fishing village into an international tourist resort.
Today the region comprises about 200 residents in the vast majority are employed in tourism.
